Elbert D. Babcock, a mailman and WWII Navy veteran, died Friday, April 29, 2016, at the age of 93, in his home, under the care of his family and Hospice. Elbert was born in Buffalo and served in the Navy. Elbert retired from the US Postal Service in 1998 after serving 32 years. Mary (Csont) and Elbert were married for 43 years before she died in 2000. Elbert enjoyed golfing plus birdwatching and walking his faithful canine friends. Survivors include his brother, William of Tavares, Florida; his daughter, Heidi Spellman (Steven) of Colorado Springs and his son Perry (Linda) of Orchard Park. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Bri'anna Spellman Kadera, Justin Babcock, Mallory Spellman Lockhart and Marissa Babcock; plus great-grandchildren, Ethan and Lucy Lockhart and his faithful companion to the end, Molly. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday May 3, 2016 at 7:00pm at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church, 4369 South Buffalo Rd. Orchard Park, NY, where the family will greet friends immediately following the service.
