The memories of her goodness will forever carry on in our spirit, a force of good to all she knew.
Geri was the rose dancing softly on the branch over a warm summer breeze.

Geri and Matt became my Godparents at age three. I've been loved my whole life.
While staying at Geri and Matt's I witnessed Geri's deep love for animals as she spoke to each by name. My favorite was "Buddha" who she announced with affection and glee at the daily appearance of the giant, roaming Mastiff.
Geri made me so happy.
At age ten, I stayed at their new Cincinnati home. After Matt left for work one morning Geri mentioned him by name in a voice that reflected his strength
and presence and her respect, love and positivity for him. This was when I first noticed Geri's most unique quality; the ability to impart individual compassion, love and hope upon speaking each of our names. Just Lovely.
I'm grateful and blessed to have had Geri in my life.

Geri - You were one of the classiest ladies we know, with the keenest of decorating sense! A beautiful soul and bright light in this world. We love you and we will truly miss you. You were so loving and nurturing, our family will never forget you. You will always and forever be in our hearts. Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Kisses, hugs and prayers, Joe, Kim, Joe, Jacob, Taylor & Julia Santha xoxox

Aunt Geri has been in my life since birth. I can share a picture of her at my son’s birth some 28 years ago. A world without Aunt Geri is hard to grasp….

My earliest memories of Aunt Geri date from when I was a little boy in the 1950s, at family events in Buffalo and Hamburg.
I remember once when they drove up to our house in a big convertible. Matt was driving. Geri was in the passenger seat, flashing that big, radiant smile that seemed like a permanent feature of her face, wearing sunglasses and a scarf, looking to my young eyes every bit like a movie star. As I got a bit older, Matt and Geri reminded me more and more of the photos of Jack and Jackie that I saw in Look and Life magazines.
As the years went by, they moved, and our family moved, and our contacts were scarce, but by that time, our relationship was well-established
One summer, my older brother Ray and I were invited to spend a week with Geri and Matt at their house in Cincinnati. It was a great adventure, traveling together by bus from Ravenswood, West Virginia. And what a time it was. Geri had a collection of wild animals—birds and critters--that she attracted, named, fed, talked about and talked to like they were people. Geri and Matt treated Ray and me like royalty--a Reds-Dodgers game, fishing at Lake Isabella, food and attention we were not accustomed to and a close-up look at other ways to live life.
We were not close for many years, but then, amazingly, we were. It turns out that the passage of time did not diminish our relationship; on the contrary, it just got better. I guess you’d expect that from someone who maintained friends from grade school and who looked at life and lived it with as much openness and enthusiasm as Geri did. It is also no surprise that she and Joe ended up together, because Geri could not help but recognize your goodness and caring and the wonderful person that you are. Ellen and I are so sorry that you must bear such a great loss.
I was lucky to know Geri as a child, and as an adult. Her mind was in constant motion, she was never at a loss for words, she was endlessly interesting and entertaining, and it was my good luck to have her as my aunt.
I do not know where Geri is off to now, but I am certain she will make it interesting—and fun.

For a few days last fall, John Schelble (nephew, son of Carol Meyers, Matt's brother) and his wife Ellen visited Aunt Geri and Joe. The weather was perfect, and we spent happy hours catching up and spinning stories on her back porch.
We agreed (thought we had agreed?) that Ellen and I would go get carryout for supper, so that she and Joe wouldn't have to go to any trouble on our account.
Nope. Geri already planned a Buffalo specialty she knew we couldn’t get where we live—beef-on-wick. She even slow-cooked the beef for hours to make sure it was extra tender. Not what we expected, but quintessential Aunt Geri.

Geri Meyers was a beautiful soul full of energy, kindness, and generosity. She (and Matt) made a real difference in my life as well as my whole family's, especially when close neighbors living off Lawyer Rd in Cincinnati, Ohio. Will truly miss her and our talks. We lost a great friend. Sharing in your sorrow with love. Deep condolences.

Q: How would you describe Geraldine to someone who had never met them?
A: I have limited memories of my aunt Geraldine. But the ones that stand out the most, were the smile and the kindness embodied in that smile.
