Mary K,
I was so sorry to hear about the loss of your brother Michael. I know it has been a long time since I saw you and your family but my childhood memories are still intact. At that time I use to think how much older Michael seemed in relation to us. The age gap now seems so little. Over the years I have thought about you and your family, especially since the birth of my own son Patrick, who was born with Down Syndrome.
May you know how much all of your family has touched the lives of many. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Your Childhood Friend, Carol

I missed this all. I am so sorry. Mike was one of the better people I have met in my life. As are the rest of you. I was an employee of yours for over ten years. You folks always made me feel like family. Sorry about this. I will be 72 next month. This getting old stuff is not for wimps.
Remember, if you all have a family picnic or whatever June and I will find a pig for you. It is on us.
Take care, Bob+June Pyne

I am saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I didn't know him well, but he joined us for tennis at Golfview a number of times. He was such a good sport, and just a warm human being. Very humble and self-effacing. My most sincere condolences to his family and friends.

My sincere condolences to Brigitte and all of the Hayhurst family. I worked for and with Mike as a deck hand on the Miss Buffalo from 1980-1988. Many wonderful memories persist from those days. I especially remember Mike (and Richie & Jack) with great fondness. Mike had a special gentleness about him and was a role model and mentor to many young people over the years. Mike, may the Angles meet you and lead you into paradise.

Brigitte my sincere condolences on the loss of Mike. I hae known you since grammar school and Mike since high school. Was on a few ski trips with him and his friend Bill. What a great guy with a great smile. Whenever I was with him he spoke so highly of you and his children. He hired my son for a summer job and my son Mike thoroughly enjoyed working for him. How sad to lose dear Captain Mike...so kind, so positive, with such a big heart for family and friends alike. I have great memories of time he spent with Brigitte at my parents' home, on our New Years Day parties, or any grand celebration, really! He would join us at dear OLSH for beautiful Christmas mass times. I have memories of wonderful evenings on the boat for various celebrations. When life was to be celebrated, it seemed, Mike was happy to be present and very much included. Knowing how well my children love their granddad, I know that Jasper and Maguire had an amazing relationship with Mike and that he was as much a fan of being a grandpa as he was of being a Dad, as he was of being a husband, as he was of being a skier, as he was of being a nautical captain, as he was of being a friend to all who knew him in any capacity. Well done, Captain Mike. Very well done. I, and many many others, will miss you. Praying for Brigitte, Sarah and her family, and Ryan, and any extended family, as they grieve the passing of this fine fine man.

I first met Michael at Sen-Wel Industries in 1973 when I was employed by the companies' outside CPA firm. I was new at the job and my interactions with Michael and Mary K. helped me to relax and have fun. Mike was always smiling and it rubbed off on everyone. He never seemed to let any problems affect him. I always looked forward in the years that followed to seeing him on the Miss Buffalo every summer. He made me feel like family. I never had a brother, but if I did, I would want him to be like Michael. I will miss him.
My deepest condolences to Brigitte, Michael's children ,Mary K. and his siblings and to your entire family.
The world was a better place with Michael in it. God Bless you all.

So many fond memories of The Skippah'.. Mike, Who I truly THANK for my 1st real job and life experiences aboard The Niagara Clipper back in 1988.
I'm fairly certain there's not enough room here to express my sincere gratitude and fortitude knowing Mike as a Boss, Skip, Friend, Advisor, and Someone who'd happily give me a swift kick in the arse' if I needed a LITTLE Irish Way straightening out...
Mike was a Gentleman, A smart businessman, A Dad, A Husband, And Above ALL; A fella you looked forward to seeing everyday, as I did for 6 years with him, through Niagara U, onto the next level of Life.
My Brother Andrew was also Fortunate to be A Trusted Skipper for Mike for over 15 years as well, following my lead...
My Father Gary " Bubba" with a heavy heart as well...South Buffalo Irish fellas are friends for Life and into the Great Beyond; The Good Lord Willing...
May we see Mike as he was in Life, This is not a goodbye, Merely just a "See You Again Skip..." Soon, Have a Cold Heineken at the gates if you would be so kind...
May God give The Beautiful Hayhurst family the strength And Love from everyone who was fortunate to know him, and the family; to get through this unpleasantness and difficult moment. All while knowing full well, Mike was A Gem of A Man.
I will miss him, yet I know I will laugh again, and pull shenanigans with him another day... Go Easy My Friend, Thanks for All You Did for me early in my life Skippah'...
God's Grace and Blessings to All of You.
Sincerely,
Daniel Harig ( Bubba Jr. )
