I am so sorry to read of Dave's passing. He was a very favorite patient when I worked as a nurse practitioner at Concord Medical Group. I'll never forget when he told me he felt good except when he walked fast at work and got dizzy. I sent him to cardiology and several bypasses later, he came back to the office smiling. We alwayslooked forward to seeing him because he was such a positive person. Have thought of Dave often and also of you,Nancy. My condolences to all of you.
Sincerely, Sandy May

David sorry I missed you at the last retired troopers meeting, you were always a part of the Troops. From one police office to another David we always had a lot of serious times and a lot of laughs working together, I will never forget how you always addressed me as "Soft Hat" when seeing each other, your humor and dedication (even after retirement) to your job as a police officer will be missed.
Always your buddy

My father is Dave Hess so I had plenty of interactions with Mr. Conley! I have two really great memories of Mr. Conley; the first being a little kid going into the PD to see my dad back in the detective bureau (an office the size of a walk in closet) and Mr. Conley would be working the front desk. He always called me "lil Hessy" and would ask me every time why I was there, knowing full well I wanted to see my dad. Then he'd ask me if I wanted to see "the prisoners". So I would walk around the corner where the cells were and he'd bang on a door or a cell and scare me to death and I'd go running. He must have laughed for 10 minutes every time I fell for it.
The second memory really stands out because it illustrates the brotherhood of law enforcement officers. They had a raffle at the OPMS and my dad gave me my door ticket and I took it up to Mr. Conley. I was looking at all the items on the table and told Mr. Conley that I had never won anything before and he just laughed and took my ticket. Sure enough I won a calculator. Might not seem like the kind of thing a kid wants to win but that was an awesome feeling. Looking back at it, I wasn't that lucky and I think I have Mr. Conley to thank for that!
My father has taught me a lot about law enforcement but even his friends contributed in their ways to show me that police officers not only look out for each other but their families too. God speed Mr. Conley and thanks.

A great man, who always smiled and served his community to the highest standards . Dave just had a personality that you were drawn to, as he was genuine when he shook you're hand and asked " how are you." You'll be missed my friend. ..
