Many fond and warm memories of Leonard during our teenage years in Buffalo. I remember the laughter and fun and Leonard with his "lid". Many condolences to Madeline and family.

I met Len in my Junior year at Bishop Timon. We were among a "select" group assigned to Homeroom 108 and, needless to say, the hilarity that year was omnipresent along with dubious grades. Our friendship continued through the next year and his "comment" in my year book still produces a teenage snicker whenever I wander along the memory trail.
My sincerest condolences to his family and classmate Paul B.

Uncle Len was 12 years younger than his brother Joe (my father) and his best friend in the world. He was also much more than an “uncle” to me and my brother Paul. “Crazy Uncle Loco” was a groomsman in my wedding party, went to most of my youth and high school hockey games, including away tournaments. The group of us (Paul, Dad, Uncle Len, and me) went to two Super Bowls together (Pasadena and Atlanta), cheered from our seats at the old Rich stadium in the Bills’ glory days, and we saw countless Sabres games together. He and my dad were inseparable, bat-sh#t crazy, foolish, and affectionate, all at once. I remember Uncle Len trying out skiing at Whiteface Mountain after our Lake Placid state finals in 1981. He had never skied before. He had one speed: fast (like the way he used to pitch a softball). The site of Uncle Len and his brother Joe showing up together in 2015 at the old Audubon to see my son Tommy play hockey in my childhood home rink is priceless, as are the memories of Uncle Len and Aunt Mad driving an hour to Rochester to see Tommy and his older brother Sam play hockey after Dad had passed away. My last visit with Uncle Len was in January 2018, when he saw Tommy play one last time at a Buffalo rink. I knew he was proud of his grand-nephews and he will be happy to know that the grit, determination, and craziness that he helped instill in Paul and me lives on in his grand-nephews. I only take solace in how sweet it is to be reunited with your big brother Joe in Heaven above.
I will miss you very much and send my love to Aunt Mad, Lynn, and grandkids.
Your nephew,
Mark Augustine

Even though I have only known Len as a close friend for the last four years, I will miss his humor and wit. Will also miss his keeping all his friends updated with the world happenings. Since he read every national and local paper available. Now I'll have to stop buying "Genny Cream Ale" as Len was the only person I know who drank it anymore. Len will be missed by everyone he met and knew.
