Obituary of Elise S. Aston

ASTON – Elise. S. of Orchard Park, May 17, 2019. Survived by her husband James O. Aston; daughter Jane Taylor of Cheektowaga, NY; her children Ainslie Taylor, Tampa, FL and Eric Taylor, Cheektowaga; a son David S. Aston and his wife Kimberly of Snyder, NY; their children Madison Aston, Washington, D.C, and Sawyer Aston, Snyder. Also surviving is a brother-in-law John F. Brennan of West Dennis, MA; his children Kevin, West Dennis; Tracy Brennan, Boulder, CO; Kerry Wall, Hesperia, CA; Sean, Scituate, MA and Shannon Olrich, Miami, FL. A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, May 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the Orchard Park Presbyterian Church. Flowers gratefully declined in lieu of donations to the Alzheimer's Association or the United Family & Children's Society, Plainfield, NJ. She was born June 27, 1935 in Boston, MA to Richard Foskett Snow and Marguerite Ainslie Sawyer of Winchendon, MA. An older sister, Shirley Dianne Brennan of West Dennis, MA preceded her in death. Elise graduated from Cushing Academy, Ashburnham, MA in 1953. A physical education major she graduated from Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY in 1957 and later that year took a position teaching at The Hewitt School in New York City. In 1958 she married Mr. Aston. The Aston's lived in Valdosta, GA while he served in the U.S. Air Force. They returned to the New York metropolitan area in 1960 where Mrs. Aston was employed by the Millburn-Short Hills, NJ school system and the Children's Aid and Adoption Service, East Orange, N.J. The Aston's moved to Chatham, NJ where they would reside for the next 27 years. At the end of that period Elise worked in retail sales with Anson Newton of Morristown, NJ, a women's boutique. Elise was active in tennis and platform tennis as a member of Chatham Fish and Game Club, Chatham, NJ and was its first female trustee. She was a member of the Chatham United Methodist Church as well as a Girl Scout Leader and volunteer at Overlook Hospital, Summit, N.J. In 1990 her husband was transferred by his employer the Federal Reserve Bank of NY to serve as the Branch Manager of its Buffalo Office. The Aston's settled in Orchard Park and became members of East Aurora Country Club where Elise was very active in women's golf and was a past president of its women's association. She was a member of PEO, having joined in New Jersey, and continued that association in Orchard Park. . .
