James P. Callahan, age 80, of Orchard Park, died Saturday, August 24, 2019 at home in Orchard Park. Mr. Callahan was born March 24, 1939 in Buffalo, NY. He is survived by his wife Mary, children Elizabeth (William Francis), James M, (Kami), John (Debbie) and Dennis; siblings Patrick Frawley, Michael Frawley, Anna (Nancy) Martin, Kathleen Frawley, and Sr. Theresa Moore; and Foley-family step siblings; Amanda Dixon, Kathleen Harvey, Reilly, Liam, Emmet and Kiah Callahan, Daniel and Matilda Francis, Lacey and Taylor Paterson; and cherished cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Mary Lou Frawley and infant son Daniel Martin. Jim "Cal" Callahan, was a sharp wit, an optimist, and all-around good guy. He was born James Francis Frawley in Buffalo in 1939, to Michael and Anna (Brown). His mother died in 1942, Jim then lived at Father Baker's until he was adopted by James and Catherine (Lyons) Callahan in 1946. Jim served in the US Army, graduated from Canisius College, and retired from the NFTA. He married Mary Kot in 1965 and they raised their family in South Buffalo and North Boston. Jim savored spending time with his extended family and many friends. He made new friends wherever he went – including those from around the world when he twice walked the Camio de Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage route across Spain. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 26 Thorn Avenue, Orchard Park, NY. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 28 from 3:00pm - 7:00pm at F. E. Brown Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 6575 East Quaker Street, Orchard Park, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim's memory to: Buffalo Peace House P O Box 370 Athol Springs, NY 14010
