Bill Hart was my father’s first cousin, but I never met him until a genealogy historian from Ripley County, Indiana contacted me and told me of a person researching the same family line and put us in touch with each other. We had several years of sharing family information before I met him and as soon as I laid eyes on him I knew I was in Hart territory. It was a joy to see my father, Norm Hart, and he greet each other after many years. So fun to see people confuse my father with Bill Hart at a hotel opening and a privilege to hear his stories so full of wisdom sharing his life experience with my children. What a great man and he has left behind a great legacy family.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Hart family. Wishing you guys the absolute best as you mourn and celebrate a great life.
When David and I hung around in the basement at Orchard Pak as high school kids who “knew everything”, Bill (Mr. Hart to me), was often there to ensure we were kept humble, and that we kept the record straight. One day, when we were laughing about some odd event, he said to me “Life is not meant to be taken seriously, just responsibly”. Here was a successful adult who was giving the green light to have fun, but it came with the stern warning that it only works if you take care of your business. I have carried that with me for the past 40+ years like a mantra. It has been shared with my kids, friends, and colleagues. This story captures for me the type of person he was – kind, smart, direct, insightful, and enjoyed a good laugh. During his life, he positively impacted many people in ways he never knew. I am glad he is at peace. You had a hell of a ride, Mr. Hart!

Our deepest sympathies to the family. My Great Uncle Peter Giarraffa was dear friends with Mr Hart going way back to when they were very young - so many stories of them and their antics and how their careers progressed through the years.....and also stories of the times that Uncle Peter spent with him at hotel openings and in his Florida home. We met him at the Hamburg Soap Box derby event cheering on I believe his grandson (Uncle Peter was a soap box derby champ himself back in the late 30's and had a car he built in the race that day driven by a beloved neighbor boy). And then also talked with Mr and Mrs Hart at Uncle Peter's services only 3 years ago. Mr Hart was a very very kind man.
We LOVE the Hart Hotels and talk about these memories every time we stay at one.
With thoughts and prayers, Valerie and Harry Maxwell

I'm so sorry for your loss. I had the opportunity to meet Bill only once at the opening of Chautauqua Harbor Hotel. However, I feel like I got the benefit of his wisdom, in little bits from time to time, as David quotes his father so often. It's obvious that his legacy will live on in many ways.

I have fond memories of working with Bill on the World University Games. He was a stalwart leader in that effort and I was able to get to know him. He was a business success, a contributor to many community organizations and a devoted family man. I always enjoyed being in his company. Eileen joins me in sending our condolences.

May I also add to Bill Hart’s obit that he was a member of the U.S. Armed Forces serving as a combat infantryman during the Korean War; a war that took the lives of almost 40,000 G.I.’s. Bill Hart was a hero serving on the front lines. May a perpetual light shine upon him and may he Rest In Eternal Peace.
